Justin combines deep knowledge with obvious skill and a passion for his topic. It’s infectious. Moreover, he works with a diverse student population – always a good sign – and so was quick to suggest work-arounds and ideas to make each thing he covered work for different folks. If he is teaching anything near you or you have the chance to travel to work with him, do.

Justin is that rare example of a skilled martial artist with very low performative ego. His ability to instruct and encourage students at various levels,  specially beginners, is a breath of fresh air. Knowledgeable, capable, kind and creative: Justin  s as supportive of his student’s spirits as he is of their martial skills development.

A very patient and dedicated coach who obviously has a passion for sharing his knowledge. He’s a great communicator and really builds up drills and skills thoughtfully. As a new member, I am
impressed by how much I am learning in such a short amount of time thanks to him!

I participated last month in Justin’s class at the Lord Baltimore’s Challenge, and really enjoyed it! During the practice, we learn fun plays with rapiers, but also dagger against rapier, and rapier against spear. It was a lot of fun! Justin has a lot of experience and excellent advice for new and more advanced fencers. I greatly recommend his classes! Thank you 

I found I learned a lot at Justin’s rapier strategy class. I hadn’t thought much about distance and footwork traps, despite being told about them. I especially liked the drills, they helped me practice opportunities to create and attack in tempo.
